Chapter 9

Opposition in All Things
A great prophet and follower of Jesus Christ said, “for it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.”  So, in our journey to understand how we can live the first and great commandment, to love the Lord our God, with our allness, we have to truly awaken to a sense of our nothingness, the opposite of all, as did Moses.
Like allness, opposites are another law of physics and of the universe.  Without the principle of opposites, we could not have electricity.  It is through the coming together of oppositely charged particles that energy is generated.  Heat pumps and refrigeration are based on opposites, generating heat to produce cold and visa versa.
By knowing our nothingness, we are able to know our all and then give it.
“For behold, if the knowledge of the goodness of God at this time has awakened you to a sense of your nothingness, and your worthless and fallen state—“
To awaken to a sense of our nothingness is to “gladly hear the word of Jesus Christ” and to know Jesus Christ and His Father who hath sent Him.  One cannot know these two infinite beings without awakening to a sense of our nothingness.
This principle of opposites in “all” things is again manifested in the atonement of Jesus Christ, who descended below all things (nothingness) in order to perfect His allness,
D&C 88:5 Which glory is that of the church of the Firstborn, even of God, the holiest of all, through Jesus Christ his Son—
6 He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth;
He has invited us to, “Come unto me…and learn of me”.  To learn of Him, is to love Him.
